An antenna includes a base (30) supporting an internal flat antenna element (10) with a patch portion (11) of a shape to operate as part of a Planar Inverted F Antenna (PIFA) in a cellular telephone. The patch portion includes two legs (12, 13) as feeding elements. A radiating whip antenna (20) includes an extendible portion (22) and a base portion functioning as a feeding portion to the internal antenna through a spring-contact connecting portion (14'). An Independent claim is also included for a mobile telephone incorporating an antenna.
