The extraction of compounds, for increasing the thickness of stratum corneum in order to fighting against damaging effects of the environment on the skin, comprises: grinding white lupin seeds, solubilizing the seeds flour, hydrolyzing proteins, and filtering. The extraction comprises: (1) grinding white lupin seeds to obtain a flour; (2) solubilizing the flour to 5-20 vol. % in aqueous solution; (3) hydrolyzing proteins in the presence of a protease; (4) filtering the solution to clarify it; and (5) sterilizing filtration of the solution to eliminate the microorganisms, yeasts and molds, and the total mesophilic flora. Independent claims are also included for: (1) an extract obtained from the above process; (2) a cosmetic composition comprising the extract; and (3) a method for treating the skin in order to increase the thickness of stratum corneum by applying the cosmetic composition on the skin.
