Lowering flow point of paraffinic charge to produce high viscosity index base lubricants

The use of a structural zeolite enables the separation and selective isomerization of linear or low branched paraffins giving products containing 65-80% of mono-branched and 20-35% of multi-branched paraffins. The reduction of the flow points of hydrocarbon charges uses a catalyst containing a matrix, a zeolite of structure MTT, TON or FER, a hydro-dehydrogenating element and a promoter element chosen from boron, silicon or phosphorus. Independent claims are also included for the catalysts and their use in the conversion of hydrocarbons.
