<p>A vehicle seat assembly (10) in which the seat bottom (12) and seat back (14) are each constructed with a two piece frame (34, 36; 90, 92). The two pieces of the frame attach to one another and trap the trim cover (58) and a suspension panel (52) therebetween to support the suspension panel (52) and trim cover (58) on the frame (26, 28) with a resilient pad (56) therebetween. The two parts of the seat bottom frame (26) and the two parts of the seat back frame (28) have interlocking features to fasten the parts to another without separate fasteners. The seat bottom frame (26) parts and the seat back frame (28) parts are also held together by a pivot pin (80) at the rear of the seat bottom (12) and the lower end of the seat back (14). The same pivot pin (80) is used to attach the seat back (16) and seat bottom (12) to another. The resulting seat structure is relatively simple to dismantle. By removing the pivot pin (80) the seat assembly will essentially 'fall apart' for dismantling for reusing, reclaiming or recycling the seat components.</p> |
