An elongated safety stepping strip (3) mounted onto the longitudinal edge of each stair of a stairway (1) is integrally formed of plastic and has a horizontal extension (35) and a vertical extension (34) that are in approximately orthogonal connection to each other. The horizontal extension (35) has a sloped surface ending up with a smoothly rounded corner (31) of the vertical extension (34). On the horizontal and vertical extensions of the strip (3) are disposed a plurality of longitudinal holes (32) of various shapes which are used as buffer members. Each anti-slip stepping strip (3) can cover all the sharp points, corners, and edges of each stair of a stairway (1) whereby people can be well protected from being hurt, especially their heads, by such sharp points, corners, and edges even when accidentally falling down on such a stairway (1).
