The sofa bed contains at least one pull-out carriage (4) secured by fittings to a raisable head section (5) normally located behind the upholstered backrest (2) when the furniture is being used as a sofa, but which lies level with the upholstered seat (3) when the carriage is pulled out to convert the sofa into a bed. The head section is secured to both sides of the carriage by swing fittings (6) and is also provided with at least one push joint (11), comprising one or more rod (10) which can be moved on a bolt (9) along tracks in (7) in the sofa frame (1) side walls in order to move the support frame for the head section in the bed length direction.
