The amusement machine operating method uses a computer-assisted control unit for the playing sequence control, with a number of rotary symbol drums (5) used for displaying a symbol sequence corresponding to a win or lose combination and a jackpot device (16,17,26). A number of display elements (19,21,27,29) are indexed in dependence on the indicated win or lose, with erasure of the jackpot upon a given symbol combination.
