Refrigeration process using Joule-Thomson heat exchange

In a refrigeration process the refrigerant is additionally cooled after cooling to the ambient temperature and before entering the Joule-Thomson heat exchanger. A refrigeration process in the region of 65-150 K comprises compressing the refrigerant using an oil-lubricated compressor (1) and subsequently removing oil from the refrigerant before feeding the refrigerant to a Joule-Thomson heat exchanger (3). The refrigerant is additionally cooled after cooling to the ambient temperature and before entering the Joule-Thomson heat exchanger. An Independent claim is also included for an apparatus for carrying out the refrigeration process comprising an oil-lubricated compressor (1), a post-condenser (2), and a counter-current heat exchanger (3).
