A device for securing valuable goods, in particular securities and documents, comprises a portable container (1) with a closable compartment (2) for receiving the valuable goods therein. The devie is provided with destruction means (7) for destroying the goods in the case of irregular use of the device. The device comprises connection means (8, 9) which are capable of establishing a connection with a base station (20) related thereto and is further provided with clock means (16) and with detection means (18) which are capable of co-acting such that when the connection of the connection means (8, 9) to the base station (20) is broken the destruction means (7) will be activated after a pre-determined delay time has elapsed.
