Method for controlling a fuel injection IC engine

A method for controlling a fuel injection IC engine, e.g. a diesel engine, has sensors to monitor the engine speed, engine torque and other parameters. The control system also includes sensors for the control settings, and the speed of the vehicle. Variations in the engine torque and engine speed are identified and the control system provides correction signals to smooth out the variations, with a minimum of lag. The correction is applied in a phase corrected manner.
