To damp the movement of a piston (20) in a cylinder (10), at its end position, the piston (20) has a conical projection (22) which enters a zone (12) where a fluid is compressed by the piston at the end of its stroke movement. A pressure limit unit (40) defines the pressure generated by the piston (20) in the fluid compression zone (12).
