A reclining vehicle seat joint has two flanges (2) which are joined respectively to the seat and its back and are able to rotate relative to one another about a central axis (X), forming a closed housing. One flange has a series of inner teeth (3), while the other has a toothed block (5) which is able to slide radially to engage with it. The radial movement of the sliding block is provided by a guide (7) on the first flange, enabling the block to move between engaged and disengaged positions, and a rotary cam (8) to operate it, connected to an external control handle. The sliding block can be in the form of a number of separate sections, while the cam is spring-loaded and returns automatically to the locked position when the handle is released. |
