The invention provides an effervescence particle comprising an anhydrous perborate salt which is coated with a coating material. The invention also relates to processes for making this particle and detergent compositions comprising this particle. Furthermore, the invention provides the use of a coated anhydrous perborate salt in a detergent composition for improvement of the dispensing and/or dissolution of the composition into the washing water and/or delivery of actives of the compositon to the wash.
