<p>PURPOSE:To eliminate the need for alignment of masks of intricate shapes and eliminate the difficulty in production by using the same mask in the formation of electrodes and orientation treatment of display part in a guest-host system liquid crystal display device of colored type of display part. CONSTITUTION:Lead part electrodes 19' having contact end parts 21 with the display part electrode 18 are formed on a substrate 22. Next, display part electrodes 18 are evaporated through a mask 25 which is opened with holes for display part patterns, following to which SiO is diagonally evaporated from the arrow 27 in the 60 deg. direction from the substrate normal, whereby an orientation treamtent layer 29 is formed. Next, the mask 25 is removed and SiO is diagonally evaporated from the arrow 30 in the 85 deg. direction from the substrate normal, whereby an orientation treatment layer 23 is formed over the entire surface. In this way, the display part has horizontal initial orientation perpendicular to the arrow 24 direction by the layer 29 and horizontal initial orientation in the arrow 24 direction by the layer 23.</p> |
