PURPOSE:To reduce greatly the power consumption at the maintenance driving time by applying the sine wave AC voltage featuring the maintenance voltage to the thin film EL element at least more than one period. CONSTITUTION:With application of the sine wave AV voltage to thin film EL element 10 from power supply transformer 80 via line A and C, the voltage featuring a sufficient large difference of the light emission luminance between the voltage rise and fall times is applied as the maintenance voltage. Then the sine wave AC voltage featuring the maintenance voltage is applied to element 10 at least more than one period to perform the maintenance driving. As a result, the power consumption can be reduced greatly at the maintenance driving time. |
