<p>Safety syringe has a needle (21) with a proximal base (2) held in a barrel distal nozzle (12) and with a conical socket (27) formed in the proximal end of the base and deviating at an acute angle from the needle axis. A coupling member (30) embedded in the plunger (31) distal end has an arrowhead-shaped end (301) to engage in the socket. Plunger retraction draws the needle into the barrel and the inherent restoring force of the base causes the needle to lie at an angle and engage against the barrel distal end shoulder so that it cannot protrude through the nozzle.</p> |
