The invention concerns an agent for eliminating heavy metals contained in an aqueous effluent comprising: a metal alkaline silicate; a metal alkaline carbonate, said agent being in the form of a solution. Said agent may further contain a sulphur compound. Said agent can constitute a stabilising agent of said metals and can be used for eliminating or stabilising heavy metals contained in industrial aqueous effluents.
