HUB PORT WITHOUT JITTER TRANSFER

A hub port (200) in a hub which preferably eliminates the transfer of jitter in the signal transmitted to an attached node port. In one embodiment, jitte r transfer is preferably eliminated by transmitting data to an attached node port (212) using a local clock signal internal to the hub rather than a cloc k signal recovered from the datastream. The hub port includes smoothing circui ts (220) to synchronize data received from the attached node port to the local clock.
