Working up used oil by adding alkali compounds

Alkali compounds are added to used oil to reduce the chlorine content. Process for working up used oil comprises initially pre-purifying the used oil by separating off water, removing coarse and fine solid impurities by filtering and centrifuging and then removing residual water and light boiling fractions by drying and distilling. Alkali compounds are then added to reduce the chlorine content of the oil.
