The mortar coating is applied to plastic foam tiles. The thickness of the layer is set by a doctor, so that a rolling mortar wave (11) 20 or 30 mm high forms in front of the doctor. The amount of mortar used is regulated by measuring the height of the wave. The mortar has a mortar viscosity of DIN 1060 and a spread of 10-18 cm, preferably 12-14 cm.
