Variable valve timing for IC engine

A valve timing adjuster for an IC engine has a belt driven pulley (2) with an integral hydraulic piston moving along a spiral thread to generate a relative phase shift between the pulley and the mounting. The mounting has a threaded bore, as does the end of the camshaft (13). A connector with male threaded sections at each end provides a compact fitting both radially and axially. The fitting includes hydraulic ducts to control the position of the piston
