An identification device has an information body incorporating a label carrier and a connecting element accommodating a cable which has two legs that can be locked together at the ends. Information carriers and connecting element are connected together in one-piece fashion. The information body (20) is designed as a hollow body for accommodating the label carrier in positive-locking fashion. At least the top part of the information body consists of transparent material and the axial length of the connecting element (22) is smaller than the axial length of the information body. The legs (30,32) are connected in their connecting regions to the information body in the fashion of a film hinge (60).
