The overhead cable is replaced using a support cable (2) above the power cable (1), using pulley blocks (3) to join the two cables at regular intervals. The support cable is pulled tight to support the power cable, which can then be drawn through the support pulleys. The new cable can then be run over the pulleys, and when it is fully fitted, the support cable can be removed
