The mortar coating application device has a doctor (14) by which the thickness of the layer (9) is set. The doctor forms a mortar wave (11). The issuing of the mortar is regulated in accordance with the height of the wave. The doctor can turn and/or be moved along the longitudinal direction of the tile. The device may also, or alternatively, have an adjustable run-in of the reinforcing textile and/or an adjustable side limiter of the mortar.
