Proteins having mutations involving at least the substitution of Glu at the 115-position into Lys, Arg or Tyr in the amino acid sequence containing at least the 7- to 151-positions (for example, the 1- to 163-positions) in the amino acid sequence of matured human erythropoietin (TPO) and having the human TPO activity; DNA encoding these proteins; a process for producing these proteins; and medicinal compositions containing these proteins. Compared with the intact protein, the above-mentioned proteins have high stabilities (in particular, heat stability) and high biological activities.
