<p>A resistive heating element (10) that has been cut to a first length in order to produce a desired heat output is formed into a waveform (16) having a given pitch (20) and amplitude (18) in order to change the distance separating the ends of the element without affecting its resistance and other characteristics. In this manner, a given length of heating element can be made to fit into a wide variety of pathways the lengths of which can vary substantially. Two devices (50, 64) for forming an element into the desired shape are also disclosed.</p> |
