A grading system (10) for marine animals (12) including at least a grading tank (14) holding a volume of water, a first and second water transfer channels (18a, 18b) in fluid communication with the grading tank (14), grading means (20A, 20B, 20C) having at least one partition provided with one opening of a first size through which marine animals (12) of a larger size cannot pass, the grading means (20A, 20B, 20C) having an open face adjacent an inner surface of the grading tank (14), the grading means (20A, 20B, 20C) can be rotated and vertically displaced so that the open face can be selectively disposed adjacent the first or second channels (18a, 18b) to allow marine animals (12) to pass between the grading means (20A, 20B, 20C) and the first or second channels (18a, 18b) and adjacent an inner surface of the grading tank (14) to substantially close the open face to prohibit the escape of marine animals (12) from within the grading means (20A, 20B, 20C). |
