Continuous production of cellulose suspension useful for producing solution for making e.g. fibers, filaments and film

Continuous production of a suspension of cellulose in aqueous N-methylmorpholine-N-oxide (NMMO) comprises passing the cellulose through (a) a first shear zone, in which it is homogenized in the absence of NMMO, and (b) a second shear zone, in which aqueous NMMO is added in such an amount that, after mixing, the liquid phase of the suspension contains 70-80 wt.% NMMO. The cellulose or suspension completely fills the available cross-section of the shear zones.
