<p>Novel 9-substituted hypoxanthine derivatives with unexpected physiological effects are disclosed. Among these compounds are N-(2-(3,4- dihydroxyphenyl) ethyl)-3- (6-oxohydropurin-9-yl) propanamide, N-(2-hydroxy-2- (3,4-dihydroxyphenyl) )ethyl-3-(6- oxohydropurin-9-yl) propanamide, and N-(1-carboxyl -2-(3,4-dihydroxyphenyl) )ethyl-3-(6- oxohydropurin-9-yl) propanamide. Also disclosed are pharmaceutical compositions and methods for use of the derivatives to treat disorders or conditions treatable by monoamine oxidase inhibitor activity and to regulate calcium channel function.</p> |
