This invention relates to chemotherapeutic treatments involving the use of chemotherapeutic agents which, as a side effect, cause peripheral neurotoxicity. In particular, the invention provides methods by which chemotherapeutic strategies can be followed using such chemotherapeutic compounds but with reduced peripheral neurotoxicity which methods involve pre-administration of paclitaxel or a paclitaxel equivalent at least 4 hours prior to administration of the chemotherapeutic compound.
