PURPOSE:To realize the solid-state image pickup device and its drive method by scanning a light receiving picture element area while dividing the area so as to obtain a high frame rate. CONSTITUTION:A shift register used for scanning a light receiving picture element is formed by connecting unit circuits comprising 2-stages of clocked inverters in cascade. Then the shift registers are divided into blocks A, B and transfer clock pulses phi1A,/phi1A, phi2A and phi1B,/phi1B, phi2B,/phi2B are applied respectively independently to each of the blocks A, B. The output from each output terminal of each of the blocks A, B is changed by controlling the pulse waveform of the transfer clock pulses fed to each of the blocks A, B to scan part or all of the light receiving picture elements. |
