Polyfluorocarbon resin or polychlorofluorocarbon resin, in particular polytetrafluoroethylene in powder form, is added to a conventional, indifferent, inorganic finely divided filler for dentally strengthening combination materials, together with conventional, liquid, polymerizable binding agent systems, in order to form a combination material which possesses improved mechanical properties, in particular resistance to wear or abrasion. As little as 1.0% by weight or less of the polyfluorocarbon or polychlorofluorocarbon resin powder, calculated in relation to the total weight of the filler, produces an improvement in the resistance to wear. This thereby achieves a resistance to abrasion which exceeds that which is achieved using conventional amalgams which are suitable for use on masticatory surfaces.
