PURPOSE:To correct even a burst error in the longitudinal direction, by varying a track in order in the longitudinal direction of a tape, forming the parity by a data which has been time-delayed, and also separating the parity from a data. CONSTITUTION:P1 and Q1 parity frames are formed by taking a data frame D10, D19, D4, and a parity P1 in a track #5, a track #9, a track #13, and a track #1, respectively, so that a data which takes a parity does not exist on the same track. Also, a parity Q1 is formed in the track #1 so as to be 4 frames apart from D17, by D17 which is 4 frames apart from a frame D1 in the track #1, and P2 which is 4 frames apart from D10 in the track #5. Thereafter, in the same way, parities P2-P8, Q2-Q8 are formed. And, an error which is correctable can be corrected by checking up the reproduced data D1-D24, and parities P1-P8, Q1-Q8. In this way, a burst error in the longitudinal direction is also corrected enough. |
