PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain rare earth-transition metal series alloy powder of <5 μm average grain size without undergoing a pulverizing stage. SOLUTION: In the method for producing rare earth-transition metal alloy powder in which a rare earth element raw material and a transition metal raw material are reduced to obtain R.T series or R.T.X series alloy powder, rare earth oxide of <5 μm average grain size and transition metal oxide of <5 μm average grain size are used, primary reducing of reducing the transition metal raw material using a reducing agent having reducing power of being capable of reducing transition metals but incapable of reducing rare earth elements is executed, and next, secondary reducing using a reducing agent having reducing power of being capable of reducing rare earth elements is executed to obtain rare earth-transition metal alloy powder, where R denotes rare earth elements including Y, T denotes at least one kind of transition metal element selected from the group of Fe, Co and Ni, and X denotes at least one kind of element selected from the group of N, B and C. |
