PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a new recombinant polynucleotide which contains an immunogenic epitope of herpes simplex virus (HSV)-2VP16, codes for an immunogenic polypeptide which protect from HSV, and can be used for producing a vaccine against herpes simple virus VP16. SOLUTION: This is a new recombinant polynucleotide which contains an immunogenic epitope of herpes simple virus (HSV)-2VP16, codes for an immunogenic polypeptide which protect from HSV, and is useful, for example, for producing a safe and effective vaccine for human being for the prophylaxis of HSV infection and for treatment of the disease when infected. This polynucleotide is obtained by inserting restriction enzyme EcoRI 'L' fragment from HSV-2G strain into plasmid pVC19 to prepare a polynucleotide source coding for HSV-2VP16, followed by screening the source using, as a probe, one of segments of plasmid pRB3458 containing a sequence coding for HSV-1VP 16 by Southern blot analysis. |
