摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To efficiently arrange an optical signal and to make an optical communication system large in capacity in the case of using a band around a zero-dispersion wavelength of an optical fiber by making each wavelength of plural signal lights that is subjected to wavelength multiplexing shorter or longer than the zero-dispersion wavelength of the optical fiber and also making each adjacent wavelength interval natural number times as long as a prescribed wavelength or frequency. SOLUTION: A guard band 5 of certain fixed with is provided from zero-dispersion wavelength λ0 and signal light is arranged outside the band 5, being closer to a long wavelength side 6 than the wavelength λ0 here. That is, each wavelength is selected so that each wavelength of n pieces of signal lights (channels) to be subjected to wavelength multiplexing can be longer than the λ0 of an optical fiber and also the wavelength is selected so that the wavelength interval of each adjacent signal light natural number times as long as a prescribed frequency or wavelength. For instance, if the prescribed frequency is 50 GHz and the adjacent wavelength interval (channel interval) is three times longer than it, i.e., 150 GHz, the interval of each wavelength becomes an equal interval.
