<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To simplify coding of a binary signal by multiplexing one bit and data a coded mapping signal so as to produce a coded binary signal. SOLUTION: When a pixel has the same binary value as that of an adjacent pixel scanned just before, a 1st comparison signal is fed to a mapping section 120, and when not, a 2nd comparison signal is fed to the mapping section 120. The mapping section 120 produces mapping binary alpha block(BAB) data in response to the 1st or 2nd comparison signal corresponding to each pixel in a current binary alpha block BAB to be sent. Furthermore, a binary arithmetic coding section 140 encodes the mapping BAB data based on a probability table 130 that stores two probability values corresponding to a mapping value '0' or '1'. Moreover, a MUX 150 combines the coded mapping BAB data with bit data received from a pixel value comparison section 110 via a line L10 to produce combined coded BAB data.</p> |
