To alter organoleptic properties of food products or commodities, compounds of the formula (I) are used, <IMAGE> in which R denotes the hydrogen atom or an alkyl group having up to 6 C atoms and at least one of the broken lines is a carbon-carbon pi bond, subject to the condition that (A) if at least the broken line in the DELTA <3,4> position is a carbon-carbon pi bond, R signifies only one alkyl radical having up to 6 C atoms and (B) if only the broken line in the DELTA <3,4> position denotes a carbon-carbon pi bond, the substituent at the 4 position of the DELTA <3,4> double bond is in the cis-orientation to the substituent at the 3 position of the corresponding DELTA <3,4> double bond. The compounds (1) can be used for example as mixtures in the form of additives or seasonings or can be added to the food products or commodities. Preferred commodities are cosmetics, detergents, chewing gum and smoking materials. |
