PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable excellent direct overwriting without lowering the repetition endurance and the storage stability of a recorded signal. SOLUTION: The optical recording medium which has at least a reflecting layer 2 and a recording layer 3 of a phase-shift material on a substrate 1 is disclosed. This optical recording medium has a ratio Ac/As of >=0.9 of absorptivity Ac when the recording layer 3 is in a crystal state and absorptivity Aa when in an amorphous state and crystallization acceleration layers 5 and 6 which accelerate the crystallization of phase shifting materials are formed in contact with at least one surface of the said recording layer 3. Absorptivity control and crystallization acceleration are used in combination to surely compensate the difference in physical property between the crystal and amorphous state, thereby actualizing excellent direct overwriting. |
