PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To perform proper management for housing articles divided by sizes in containers while accurately managing the article filling rate of each container. SOLUTION: A container for housing a plurality of articles is carried between are reception section K for receiving the lending/returning of articles and a shelf for housing a plurality of containers, a managing means P for operating the carrying means to carry the container while managing the housing position of each container housed in the shelf and managing the lending/returning of the articles stores the discrimination data of the containers, the identification data of the respective articles housed in the containers and the size data of the articles entered from a measuring means J for measuring the sizes of the articles positioned in measuring places in relation to one another, and based on the stored information, management is performed to divide the articles by sizes and store them in the containers while managing the article filling rates of the respective containers.
