PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To properly control an air-fuel ratio even when a manufacturing error is contained in the output value of a linear air-fuel ratio sensor or when the linear air-fuel ratio sensor is agedly deteriorated. SOLUTION: This air-fuel ratio controller for an internal combustion engine is provided with a catalytic converter 12 capable of storing oxygen and a linear oxygen sensor 14 being installed at the downstream side of the catalytic converter 12. When an air-fuel ratio being detected by the linear oxygen sensor 14 is a theoretical air-fuel ratio and an output value of the sensor 14 is constant, the output value is set to a reference value of the linear oxygen sensor 14 showing the theoretical air-fuel ratio. |
