PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a navigation apparatus by which a pattern screen and a crossing enlargement screen can be displayed without using an image signal line, by a method wherein data which is required for guiding a route such as map data, road data or the like is stored, information which is required for searching for a destination or the route is inputted, and image data for route guide is generated and transmitted on the basis of the input information and on the basis of the stored data. SOLUTION: In a navigation apparatus, a CPU 86 generates guide image data as bit map data, and it controls the data so as to be transmitted to a display device. That is to say, the CPU 86 sends out map data, road data or the like via a CD-ROM driver 83 so as to generate the bit map data. Its image is composed of binary data which is composed of '0' and '1'. The bit map data is transmitted by a serial communication operation or a parallel communication operation via an interface 87 such as an IC or the like for communication. The transmitted data is stored temporarily in a buffer memory 92. On the basis of the data, a display driving signal which corresponds to '0' and '1' is applied to a display 90, and a bit map image is displayed. |
