PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To raise a removal efficiency in a compound containing nitrogen and oxygen in the molecule and a compound which is difficult to dissolve in water by a method wherein, as a pretreatment, an organic substance capable of being decomposed by an acid is decomposed at a specific temperature or below by using a solid acid catalyst, and then the decomposed product is removed by an after-treatment. SOLUTION: This exhaust gas treating apparatus is an apparatus using a solid acid catalyst wherein a decomposing area having a solid acid catalyst, and a treating area of a scrubber area, an active carbon adsorption area or a catalytic combustion area, or the like are arranged in series. An example of an apparatus form when using it as a pretreatment of the scrubber is that a gas to be treated 1 becomes a gas 2 after decomposition by heating a catalytic tower 6 (a decomposition area) in which the solid acid catalyst 4 is arranged at a temperature of 400 deg.C or lower with a heater 5. Water soluble organic constituents are removed by treating the gas after decomposition 2 by a scrubber 7 (a scrubber area), and then become a gas after removal 2. Further, as the solid acid catalyst, silica, alumina and a compound consisting of a combination thereof can be cited. |
