PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To accurately discriminate the kind of battery for identify a remaining battery amount or the like, in response to battery characteristics. SOLUTION: When a battery pack 14 is mounted in a battery storing part 12, terminals 16 (16a, 16b) are connected to terminals 18 (18a, 18b), a terminal voltage of the battery pack 14 is detected by a voltage detecting part 26, a control part 30 drives a light-receiving and emitting part 28 in a condition mounted with the battery pack 14 for detecting light reflection by a light reflecting part 42 provided in the battery pack 14, and a pre-end voltage and an end voltage corresponding to the battery pack 14 are set making reference to a table 52. When an electric power source is supplied from an electric power supplying part 20 to a load circuit 22, a terminal voltage monitored by an electric power source detecting part 26 is compared with the set voltages to recognize a pre-end condition or an end condition in response to compared results thereof, and discharge from the battery pack 14 is controlled in response to a recognized result. |
