PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a telephone system capable of switching setting for receiving the information of a calling side device to an operation state or an inactive state based on signals sent from an exchange side before closing a line. SOLUTION: In the case that a number flag is off (S2: No) and the signal terminated first is an information reception terminal activation signal (S3: Yes), the number flag is turned on and the setting for operating a number display function is performed (S5). Thus, in the case of joining an origination telephone number display service, without making a receiver perform a button operation on an operation panel, the number display function is set to the operation state.
