RADIO CARD FOR PERSONAL COMPUTER

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a radio card capable of easily discovering a base station and also reducing power consumption in the state of waiting outside a service area. SOLUTION: This radio card 1 is used while being combined with personal computers(PC) 21-25. A memory 13 of the radio card 1 stores reference information for discriminating service area inside S1 and outside S2 to cover a base station 3. A control part 12 of the radio card 1 discriminates either the service area inside S1 or outside S2 by collating a received signal supplied from a transmission/reception part 11 with the reference information read out of the memory 13. When the service area outside S2 is discriminated, the remaining capacity information of a battery 201 at the PC 21-25 is fetched and corresponding to the remaining battery capacity information, the ON/OFF cycle and ON time of power supplied to the transmission/reception part 11 and control part 12 is optimized.
