PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical exchange system with enhanced capability that multiplexes an optical signal and selects a path. SOLUTION: A multiplexer is provided to an optical network to multiplex an optical signal. The multiplexer includes pluralities of input fibers 14, 15, 16, 17 placed to receive pluralities of optical input signals. Each optical input signal is defined by its wavelength. A 1st converter 44 is placed in series with each of pluralities of input fibers 14-17 and converts each optical input signal into an electric input signal so that each electric input signal is defined by a frequency corresponding to a wavelength of the optical input signal. A 2nd converter is placed in series with the 1st converter 44 and converts the electric input signal into pluralities of optical signals with different wavelength bands. |
