PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To surely protect an abutting member by making it possible to fully absorb impacts even at high collision speeds and to allow maintenance work. SOLUTION: The impact absorbing device for a vehicle hood, in which a hood lock mechanism fixing the front part of a hood 2 openably to a vehicle body is provided on a vehicle, is disposed on a predetermined portion of the vehicle. The impact absorbing device includes a collision detection means for detecting collisions or the possibility of collisions with an abutting member, an actuator 5 performing the action of lifting the rear of the hood 2 according to a detection signal of the collision detection means, and a hinge mechanism 6 capable of lifting the rear of the hood 2 according to the actuation of the actuator 5. |
