<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To achieve control for the expansion behavior of an air bag though it is compactly packaged in the air bag device comprising the air bag and an inflator housed in the inside of a case. SOLUTION: A cylindrical inflator 4 is disposed while being brought near to the side opposite to the side of an occupant with respect to the center line C within a case 2, and a folding portion at the side of an air bag lower side 31 and a folding portion at the side of an air bag upper side 32 are separately housed in a first housing part 71 at the occupant side when an air bag 3 is expanded with respect to the inflator 4, and in a second housing part 72 at the side of a case opening with respect to the inflator 4 respectively. By this constitution, the air bag upper side 32 housed in the second housing part 72 is expanded first, and subsequently the air bag lower part side 31 housed in the first housing part 71 is quickly expanded.</p> |
