PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To attain low power consumption, to reduce the influence of a transmission factor of a plasma substrate on the luminance of a liquid crystal display(LCD) device, to reduce the number of parts, and to reduce the thickness of the LCD device. SOLUTION: Relating to a plasma address type LCD device 20 provided with a front board 1, a rear board 21 constituted of sticking an insulating sheet 9 to the surface of a plasma substrate 22 forming discharge electrodes consisting of anode electrodes 23 and cathode electrodes 24 and diaphragms 25 on its surface through the diaphragms 25 and forming plasma cells 2 divided by these diaphragms 25 between the substrate 22 and the sheet 9 and a liquid crystal layer 4 formed between the front board 1 and the rear board 21, phospher 26 to be emitted by plasma energy is applied to the discharge electrode side surface of the substrate 22 and the side wall surfaces of the diaphragms 25 with respect to the rear board 21. |
